Exhibition Thank You / Curzon Cinema / Photographers Gallery.
Just a quick hello to thank everyone that came down on the 3rd February for my debut private view. It was an amazing night, almost felt like the old days. The booze ran out just before things got messy and that’s all you can ask for.
Super lovely to see all those familiar faces in the same room. If you couldn’t make the exhibition it’s still on until Friday 18th Feb so pop down to TM Lighting.
Curzon Cinema.
Also this week I had the amazing opportunity to photograph the Modernist beauty that is Curzon Mayfair. It’s been a cinema for nearly 100 years but the current modernist guise was built in 1966. The real reason for my request to visit this jewel is the William Mitchel reliefs that adorn the walls of screen 1. I’ve been working on my William Mitchel project for about a year. His work is scattered across the country and in my opinion, has become a victim of the death of the new towns and the negativity associated with it. I feel his work is underappreciated so I’m trying to highlight his work as best I can. In the meantime please enjoy these photos I took in the auditorium of Curzon Mayfair.
The Photographers Gallery
What an amazing opportunity I was presented with this week. The fantastic people at Metro invited me along to speak at their monthly ‘Folio Friday’ event. The 10 attendees were extremely patient with me, listening to my practice and how I collect my images. I then spent 15ish minutes with each person, listening to their projects and how they work. It was amazing to see the creativity people are capable of. So humbling, I loved every second, even having constructive advice on occasion if I say so myself.
I’ve added a few of the shots a took of their work. Let me know what you think.
