Cockfosters. 2022
Cockfosters.
Charles Holden, 1933. Masterpiece of station building.
If it looks this good nearly a century after it was built, imagine what this looked like in 1933? Incredible building, 30's touches everywhere, old phone box encalves, old ads for taxi companies and this disused kiosk right in the middle.
Concrete guides you to the exit, same as Canary Wharf, it's surprisingly reflective. All the stations Holden designed on this stretch are works of art, but the foresight to build something still fit for purpose 100 years later is remarkable, especially this beautiful.
